CCS turns 100 years

Founded in 1903, Canaman Central School celebrates its one hundredth year of existence this year as one of the oldest elementary schools in the country.

The celebration of the centennial year of the institution kicked off in December 2002 during the 3rd Grand Alumni Homecoming which was organized by Canaman Central School Alumni Association (CCSAA). In August 2003, coinciding with the town's fiesta, the CCS along with the other public schools all over the municipality displayed drum and lyre exhibitions and cultural dances during the Department of Education (Deped) Day to commemorate the 101st year of the school.

CCSAA spearheaded the Tribute and Testimonial Dinner for the former teachers and principals of Canaman Central on December 27, 2003. Norma Salcedo-Sanders, a successful alumna who is now based in the US, was the Guest of Honor of said occasion.
